Not Of This World Ministry

As a church and community we need to congratulate them on their victory, and to grace the solemnity of their triumphs. Public successes should be publicly acknowledged, to the glory of God, and the encouragement of those that have jeopardized their lives in their country's cause.

  • Trusting Jesus isn't a faint hope in generic spiritual sentiments but is banking our hope and future on the real historical Jesus who lived, died, and rose from the dead. Grace is available because Jesus went through the valley of the shadow of death and rose from death. Jesus responds to victims' pain and past. The gospel engages our life with all its pain, shame, rejection, lostness or bewilderment, sin, and death.

  • So now, to your pain, the gospel says, "You will be healed." To your shame, the gospel says, "You can now come to God in confidence." To your rejection, the gospel says, "You are accepted!" To your lostness, the gospel says, "You are found and I won't ever let you go." To your sin, the gospel says, "You are forgiven and God declares you pure and righteous." To your death, the gospel says, "You were dead, but now you are alive."
  • The message of the gospel redeems what has been destroyed and applies grace to disgrace.

1 Peter 5:10  And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

According to the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) the suicide rate among veterans of all wars averages almost one per hour. This is an underreported figure given that many veterans’ deaths are reported as accidental. Not Of This World Ministry believes that many of these suicides, of which almost 70% are committed by men and women over the age of 50, are either directly or partially attributable to the invisible wound of war known as moral injury

  • Clearly communicate the hope and healing for victims that is found in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, the message victims hear most often is self-heal, self-love, and self-help. The church's message is not self-help but the grace of God. Grace does not command "Heal thyself!" but declares "You will be healed!" God's one-way love replaces self-love and is the true path to healing.

Today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow.

“Clergy and mental/behavioral professionals very much need better information  to deal with the aftermath of wars, including Post Traumatic Stress and Moral Injury.”  We need the church involved!  It is imperative that clergy and lay ministers address this concern immediately.

Our youth need balanced and healthy role models  to guide, love and support them. God is Person and personal, and we need persons and relationships to help our youth encounter God in their lives. We cannot rely on the schools and politicians to communicate God to our youth. Youth need real life examples of balanced and healthy Christian lives. Please join us in leading our youth to know God by getting them to Church, teaching them to pray and developing their personal and corporate relationships with God.

1 Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

  • Our faith communities can be a caring congregation for persons living with a mental illness and their family members
  • Nearly every person has been touched in some way by mental illness. And yet individuals and families continue to suffer in silence or stop coming to their faith community because they are not receiving the support they so desperately need. They become detached from their faith community and their spirituality, which is an important source of healing, wholeness and hope in times of personal darkness. THERE IS HOPE!
  • The Church and the body of Christ need to be involved and help erase the stigma of mental illness

After the self forgiveness has been received the veteran needs a support system and a method to provide service to others. They need a support system providing them the opportunity to rebuild their self-esteem, sense of worth and purpose. Providing service to others is a key component of the healing process of moral injury. These two elements in approaching moral injury are critical to successful reintegration of the veteran back into their community.
